Getting your Social Security Number

Documents to bring:

  • Passport + visa
  • DS-2019
  • I-94 (print a copy here
  • Social Security letter from Cultural Care (can be found in online account)
  • Social Security application (Download PDF)

Once you have your social security number (usually within 2 weeks), you can open a bank account and get your CO license.

Note: German and French au pairs do not have to take the written and driving tests because of an agreement between the US and Germany/France. You still need to take all the documents listed above and tell them you have a German/French drivers license and you want the Colorado license.
